2nd Grade Students Receive Hand Knit Scarves

This week at Jackson Elementary eighty 2nd grade students were surprised with hand knit scarves from some amazing and generous 7th and 8th graders along with their teacher Andrea Valasquez at Solon Middle School in Solon, Iowa. The middle schoolers knit 275 scarves this year as a part of their yearly Random Acts of Kindness that they do in honor of the students and teachers who lost their lives in the tragic Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting. Each 2nd grader got their very own scarf with their name on it and a card from the middle schooler who knit it for them. It took some of the middle schoolers 6 months to make one scarf. One of the knitters Paige, knit 38 scarves this year! Jackson 2nd graders got to Face Time with the middle schoolers who made their scarves for them. This is the 3rd year Jackson 2nd graders have received scarves from Solon Middle School.
